"Failure to prevent" laws explained (one hour talk - Online)

Failure to Prevent" laws are not new and nor is the concept behind them. But they are increasingly important for Financial Crime Risk and Compliance Officers and Internal Auditors.

To explain the concepts in the "Failure to Prevent" series of Financial Crime Fora, Nigel Morris-Cotterill will present a one-hour talk on Tuesday 25th April, 2023.

As more countries develop them, and give them extraterritorial effect, and as some countries apply a different approach but with a similar effect, it's essential for long term planning of policies and procedures that laws of this type are included now, not only projected for later.

Nigel Morris-Cotterill talks about the development and spread of "Failure to Prevent" style laws, their targets and effects. He also talks about "obligation to prevent" policies developed by regulators and why these are different to "Failure to prevent."

He then explains why it is prudent - and cost effective - to design and implement a comprehensive regime now rather than to introduce one piecemeal.

This is a lunchtime talk in the UK and Europe and at accessible times in the Americas across much of the rest of the world. It costs only GBP10.00
